Our premise is that humans are inherently creative and social beings. Why let money have a monopoly over us? We look around and see our friends and colleagues running their hardest in the rat race, yet not getting ahead.
So let's put our creativity together and see how we can do what Naomi Klein advocates, and whittle ourselves down to a three day work-week. This requires us to lessen our dependence on the almighty dollar.
It may not be as exclusive. It may not be as glamorous. But we bet it's a heap more fun!
A documentary web-series
Breaking the Money Monopoly is a proposed documentary web-series showcasing money-free lifestyle initiatives in Tasmania, Australia. In three episodes we will showcase money-free resource exchanges, lifestyle tactics, and a special “how-to” episode for breaking the monopoly money has over your life. We are tempted to do more - but we're cautious of over-promising.
In the meantime, we'll have fun completing the challenge that is the Step-Out Web 17 competition. Watch this space - they've lined up a lot of interesting challenges to help us engage you in our cause.
A Competition
Step-Out Web17 is a partnership between Wide Angle Tasmania (WAT) and Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) for Tasmanian filmmakers. It's a competition where the crowd decides which web-series are in the running for production investment including up to $20,000 cash. This prize money is to assist the winning project to make their series in a professional manner.
I.e. the winner is the team that attracts the biggest audience! Are you on board with us?
