Our Response
Interest and frustration:
Edited previous loglines and synopses that we had developed along the way... at the last minute.

Attempted designing an image with limited skills in Illustrator. Failed.
Put a call-out on facebook (and Twitter?) for our community to consider their own artistic skills. Some interest. One result see Image 2.
Considered other design options. Three results. Failed to action them by the deadline.
Resorted to our earliest image for the competition. Success. We got an entry in! We knew this image was not ideal for the requirements of challenge 4, yet it is an appealing image that has identified us from the start, so I think you'll be seeing it around for a while to come. E.g. check out how our page scrolls over it below!

After Catherine and I viewed Freakonomics in order to be prepared for the Social Film chat prize for competition 3 (congratulations on winning Debbie!), my call-out for a design from our community was answered by... Catherine! Saying her son dabbles in drawing and so it was put to him: "are you interested in drawing a hero for this webseries project? And can you do it by Sunday?" Success! We now have the beginnings of our Money Breaker Woman superhero.* * NOTE: The Superhero idea was a misconception from being a novice reading the competition requirements 'create a hero image'. But the more I thought about it, the more it made sense - people often love superheros and our project just lends itself to the concept... even if creating a superhero image is completely outside of my skillset.
Please draw us a superhero breaking out of the monopoly jail wielding a vegetable. "Okay!" ~Aidan Thomas James Smith
Logline
Breaking the Money Monopoly is a documentary web-series showcasing money-free lifestyle initiatives in Tasmania, Australia.
Synopsis
Catzen (Catherine Smith) is an obsessed Change-maker struggling with Capitalism, on a mission to break the Money Monopoly. Through a happenstance meeting she sets out to discover the many moneyless initiatives in her home state of Tasmania and share them with you. Many of these initiatives already exist throughout Australia and other parts of the world, or can easily be established to meet local needs.
In the first episode Catzen will search out the money-free resource exchange initiatives such as CENTs Tasmania, Freecycle, produce swaps and seed banks. In the second episode she will visit people who have broken the money monopoly and created a low-income lifestyle that works through homesteading, permaculture, downsizing and gift economies. In the third episode she will go through the nuts and bolts of the most popular initiatives, showing you how to get involved, and if there is nothing in your area, how to get something started.
Capitalism may appear to be a total institution in that these days everything has a dollar value attached. With this series Catzen will show you that this is not, and has never been the case. By reclaiming space in our communities, utilising new and old technologies alike, we can rebalance the power that money has over our lives, effectively breaking the money monopoly.
